Welcome to the Maisonette

This is a fully self-contained, artfully decorated small house with a private entry and garden. It is a guest favourite in the 2025 Tourism Award Winning City of Fremantle. Across the road from a park, with shops and cafes just a short walk away, the property offers the stillness of suburban life whilst not being far away from a thriving, beautiful city.

Uniquely designed to be cosy, practical, and beautiful, the Maisonette has been treating guests to incredible experiences for years. It is perfect for short and medium term stays, an ideal space for couples and small families seeking a cosy space close to Fremantle, and an asset to artists and writers needing time away to create.

In Fremantle’s creative heart

Located in the leafy suburbs of Fremantle, the Maisonette sits on the doorstep of a thriving hotspot of culture and creativity. Fremantle is the home of Fremantle Arts Centre, Kidogo Art House, a brand new City Library and live music venues such as Mojos and Freo Social, as well as numerous galleries and shops. The city and surrounding suburbs host a vast number of artists and creatives who often find inspiration by the local beaches and in bush walks around the nearby Derbarl Yerrigan or Swan River and the unique Beeliar Wetlands.

Ideal for artists

The purpose of the maisonette, apart from regular stays, is also to provide artists a space to create. A short stay at The Maisonette will have you inspired and able to work in peace, while remaining close to the creative hub that is Fremantle.

With the hosts’ combined experience in the creative arts, the maisonette is a perfect incubator for your project, with encouraging hosts and a creative community never far away.

Your Hosts

Tineke Van der Eecken has been a warm and welcoming host for more than a decade. Along with her partner Adam Bennett, Tineke is a professional artist.

Between the two they cover the creative arts industry with knowledge and networks, including sculpture and fine metals, theatre and puppetry, and creative writing. Tineke’s top-rated accommodation has been a solid lifeline while she was forging a path forward as a creative.

Tineke wants to bring the worlds of bed-and-breakfasting and art together as a means of giving artists a place to create, as well as bringing them closer to Fremantle’s creative scene.
